What are Body Checkups?

Body Checkups are what they sound like.  Simple, easy Checkups of your horse’s body parts (27 Body Checkups in total.)  They are based on chiropractic and acupuncture principles.

In my 16+ years as an equine veterinarian (certified in acupuncture and chiropractic care), I have found that some of my clients biggest questions were:

  • Is my horse in pain?  If so, where?
  • What should I do next to help my horse?

My book, Where Does My Horse Hurt?, is designed so that you can look up your horse’s symptom(s).  Next, you do some simple Body Checkups on your horse.  Based on the results of your Body Checkups, you will then know what the most likely diagnosis is, as well as read suggestions about what to do next.

The “what to do” recommendations are ordered by the most likely causes as well as the most economical path.

There are three FREE Body Checkups available on this website.  Click below to view.  Feel free to print out and share with anyone whose horse needs help.

By using Body Checkups, you will save money by:

  • Learning how to check your horse’s hocks (and all joints) before getting joint supplements or hock injections.  Find out if you really need them.
  • Learn if your horse can’t do a maneuver (and needs bodywork) vs. if your horse won’t do a maneuver. This will save time, money, and frustration because forcing horses to obey doesn’t work well in the long run.
  • Learn how to check your horse’s poll (atlas) to know if he needs a chiropractic adjustment in order to pick up both leads comfortably…vs. spending lots of time “working on ” the direction he hates.

There are 14 Body Checkups from head to tail:
